What is the MOSCDC?
The MOSCDC is primarily a social group of Marine Corps
Officers' spouses; however, spouses of other U.S. Military officers can also
join. We do some charitable work, but most of our events are focused
on socializing with other military spouses and touring local D.C. area
attractions.
What sort of events does the MOSCDC host?
Some of our past events include tours of the White House,
Mt. Vernon, the U.S. Capitol, various international embassies, and the Voice of
America Studio just to name a few. Most of our events are during the week and
include a lunch.
Every fall we host a Welcome Aboard Luncheon, usually at the
Home of the Commandants, and invite all Marine Corps spouses to attend and join
our club.
Annually, we join our “sister” clubs in the other services
and rotate hosting the Joint Armed Forces' Officers’ Wives' Luncheon (JAFOWL).
It is a very popular event and all MOSCDC club members are invited.
Some of the past speakers at JAFOWL have been Mrs. Michelle Obama,
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura
Bush, Mrs. Hillary Clinton, General Peter Pace, Ms. Katie Couric and Mr. Tom
Brokaw.
Do I have to be a member to attend MOSCDC Program Events?
Most of our events are exclusively for MOSCDC members. Some events allow members to bring guests. Our fall Welcome Aboard Luncheon is open to all Marine Corps Officers’ Spouses. Why should I join?
The MOSCDC has been in existence for almost 60 years and it's your membership fees that keep it going. We maintain a website, distribute a newsletter, and publish a yearly membership directory. Attending our events is a wonderful way to get out and see the area with other Marine Corps Officer’ spouses.Do you need volunteers?
Yes, there are 5 elected board positions and approximately 13 appointed board positions. We are always looking for more board members. Volunteers are rarely turned away.
Once there you can find out about upcoming events, contact
board members with specific questions, and see our club’s constitution and
by-laws.
We are also on Facebook; www.facebook.com/moscdc
